Tarpana is an Ayurvedic ceremony in which we come to terms with who we are through visualization and catharsis.

The ceremony begins with an appropriate setting. Breathing techniques, aromatherapy, yoga, or a combination of the above can be used to create an open and receptive mental state. You then begin by visualizing each of your ancestors, one at a time, and exploring your feelings and thoughts about them.

As you come to terms with your relationship with each of your predecessors, you will feel a lightening of your burden. Anger, resentment, sadness, and loss are replaced with understanding, compassion, and forgiveness. The overall effect is one of centering, grounding, and reconnecting to your family (your roots) and through them to the universal life force.

Tarpana is a liberating, cleansing therapy. It does for the mind and the emotions what panchakarma does for the body. As part of a complete Ayurvedic treatment, it should not be missed.
